Semantic Range
Theological Significance
Logos is GOD's self-expression and communication. In the beginning was the Logos (John 1:1) - not an impersonal force, but the personal Son of GOD, JESUS CHRIST. The Logos is both GOD's creative power (Genesis 1: "And GOD said...") and His redemptive revelation (Hebrews 1:1-2).
✝️ Christological Connection
JESUS CHRIST is the Logos - the eternal Word of GOD who became flesh (John 1:14). As the Logos, He is: (1) GOD's creative agent (John 1:3), (2) GOD's revelatory Word (Hebrews 1:1-2), (3) The fulfillment of all Scripture (Luke 24:27), and (4) The living Word who speaks life (John 6:63).
Key Verses
John 1:1
"In the beginning was the Word (Λόγος), and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD."
John identifies JESUS as the eternal Logos - distinct from the Father ("with GOD") yet fully divine ("was GOD").
John 1:14
"And the Word (Λόγος) became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
The Incarnation - the eternal Logos took on human nature, revealing GOD's glory in JESUS CHRIST.
Revelation 19:13
"He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of GOD (ὁ Λόγος τοῦ Θεοῦ)."
CHRIST's return in glory, identified as "The Word of GOD" - the ultimate revelation and judgment.
Hebrews 4:12
"For the word (λόγος) of GOD is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword."
The living Word (both Scripture and CHRIST) penetrates and judges the heart.

- •GOD creates - CHRIST creates through the Word
- •GOD reveals - CHRIST reveals the Father
- •GOD judges - CHRIST judges through the Word (Rev 19:13)
Practical Application
The Logos reminds us that JESUS is not just a teacher or prophet, but GOD's ultimate Word to humanity. To know CHRIST is to know GOD. To obey CHRIST is to obey GOD. His words are life (John 6:63). We must hide His Word in our hearts (Psalm 119:11) and let it dwell richly within us (Col 3:16).
"Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You."
— Psalm 119:11
