Overview
Leviticus is GOD's instruction manual for holy living and worship. Every sacrifice, ritual, and law points forward to the perfect work of JESUS CHRIST.
Purpose & Significance
To teach Israel how to approach a holy GOD through sacrifice and live as His holy people.
Key Theological Themes
Holiness
GOD's repeated command: "Be holy, for I am holy" (Leviticus 11:44-45). Holiness is both positional (set apart) and practical (moral purity).
Atonement Through Blood
Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness (Hebrews 9:22). Every sacrifice points to CHRIST's once-for-all sacrifice.
The Priesthood
The Aaronic priesthood prefigures CHRIST our High Priest and believers as a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9).
The Day of Atonement
Yom Kippur, when the High Priest enters the Holy of Holies once a year, foreshadows CHRIST's entry into heaven itself.
